Will Hermes, author of Love Goes to Buildings on Fire, and senior critic for Rolling Stone, will be the featured speaker at the Yaddo debut of a new series Thursday night at Northshire Bookstore Saratoga. Hermes will talk about his career in music journalism with writer Thomas Dimopoulos.
Hermes’ book, Love Goes to Buildings on Fire: Five Years in New York That Changed Music Forever, has been hailed as a definitive collection regarding the creative explosions in NYC’s music scenes---punk, hip hop, disco, salsa, jazz, classical---during some of the city’s most troubled years. Hermes’ biography of Lou Reed, who died in 2013, is forthcoming from Farrar, Straus and Giroux.
The event, free and open to the public, takes place 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Northshire Bookstore, 424 Broadway, Saratoga Springs. An audience Q & A session will follow the discussion, and copies of Hermes’ Love Goes to Buildings on Fire, and Dimopoulos’ Saratoga Stories: Magic and Loss, will be available for signing.
