The 2016 State of the City Address will be staged 10 a.m. Saturday at the Canfield Casino in Congress Park. The annual address typically brings some surprises by announcing projects that the city plans to focus on during the calendar year. Thursday, the city Planning Board will begin its review of a proposed expansion at the Saratoga YMCA on West Ave. The plans call for increasing the 79,300-square-foot facility with a 17,000-square-foot addition that would allow it to enlarge its existing pool and gymnasium. The project also calls for constructing a 4,340-square-foot outdoor pavilion, a baseball/softball diamond, rope course, zip line, asphalt basketball court and archery range, according to the Times Union.

Billed as The World’s Largest One-Day Leadership Conference, the 16th annual staging of the event will take place in Atlanta, Georgia on May 6 and will be broadcast live to hundreds hundreds of locations across the globe. The theme of this year’s conference is “Architects of Tomorrow,” and keynote speakers include Apple Inc. co-founder Steve Wozniak, University of Alabama football Head Coach Nick Saban, James Brown (the network broadcaster, not the singer), and a group of others including a Navy SEAL commander, a Leadership Expert, a comedian, and a Creativity Guru.

The event will be broadcast locally from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 6 at the Gannett Auditorium in Skidmore College and hosted by Roohan Realty, Leadership Saratoga and Performance Industrial. Tickets are $79 to $99, and available here: www.leadershipsaratoga.org
