Smokey Robinson and Chick Corea Trilogy will be among the headliners at the 39th annual Freihofer’s Saratoga Jazz Festival. The festival will be staged June 25-26 at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. The festival, founded in 1978 by jazz impresario George Wein, has hosted appearances in the past by Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, B.B. King, Wayne Shorter, Ray Charles, and many others.
This year’s festival will feature headliner Smokey Robinson; Chick Corea Trilogy; Joey Alexander; Steps Ahead Reunion; Pieces of a Dream; Pat Martino Organ Trio plus Horns; and Christian Scott, among many others. The headliner of Day One of the two-day festival has yet to be announced.
“For two days, as the kick-off to SPAC’s 50th Anniversary summer festivities, our guests will make the SPAC grounds their home,” said SPAC President and Executive Director Marcia J. White, in a prepared statement. Danny Melnick, president of Absolutely Live Entertainment, is co-producer of the festival.
Artists will perform on two stages. Seating capacity is 5,200 inside, and an additional 20,000 on the lawn. Tickets will be available online at www.spac.org beginning 10 a.m. Tuesday. Single-day tickets are $75 to $105 and $65 lawn. Children under 12 years of age are admitted free to the lawn. Two-day festival ticket package will also be available. Guests are welcome to bring their own food and beverages, as well as blankets, tents and lawn umbrellas. Parking for the event is free.
